Smart thermostats for line voltage systems
Baseboard heating and electric fan-forced heaters are examples of line voltage systems. (Not sure what you have? See our identification guide here.) These types of heating systems are incompatible with Nest, Ecobee, and other smart thermostats meant for 24v HVAC systems.
For years, no one catered to this market – perhaps due to the cost, since each heater (and room) has its own dedicated thermostat – much to the disappointment of home owners left manually adjusting their heaters in each and every room of their home.
Mysa Smart Thermostat
Mysa makes smart thermostats for baseboard heaters, electric fan-forced heaters, and electric underfloor heating.
Mysa is probably the biggest, most popular choice in this niche market. They don’t have all the features that a Nest or Ecobee might, but the units are sleek and stylish with a bright backlight, and the app makes it easy to schedule and manage all of your home’s Mysa units at once. There’s support for geofencing and Mysa works with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit.
